The GLO-CAF award is an annual award night organised to recognise footballers, coaches, supporters who  had  done their  clubs, country and at  large the  African continent proud in the footballing world.
The high point of the award night is and has always being the inductions of the African best footballer award.
This year's award billed to take place in Lagos feature two time and the reigning footballer of the year, Yaya Tour (Manchester city, England), two time winner Didier Drogba (Galatasaray, Turkey) both of Ivory coast and  the Jewel of Nigerian football, John Obi Mikel (Chelsea fc, England).
Goning for the prize

It will no doubt be a close call between Mikel and Toure as  the  midfield  duo surpass the veteran striker by almost all ramifications.

Yaya Toure has  been  in excellent form  since the start of 2013, helping mancity to finish second in the Barclay's premier league with  a hand-full of goals and assist.
A big giant combative midfield who can hardly be robbed of  possession when on the ball, yaya deserves a third award judging from his determination on the pitch and good character  off  it.
Yaya  Toure has estabished himself  as one of the  best midfielder to ever  come out this continent that his absense in an match can be easily notice. He's got plenty of pace and skill to complement his intelligence.
He might not have won any trophy in 2013 but his mesmeric skills can easily win him his third crown consecutively.

Mikel vs Toure at the 2013 AFCON

John Obi Mikel on the contrary won two major trophies for both club and country (the Europa league and the AFCON) while playing an integral parts. At this quater final stage of the  2013  AFCON between Nigeria and Ivory coast, the two  midfield ochestrators were both in  action for their respective country but it was mikel who shone brighter.
Scoring a total of two goals in 2013 (Nigeria vs  Uruguay FIFA CONFED CUP) and for Chelsea againt Fulham in the EPL, Mikel isn't the best of finisher but an organiser.
Both player were realy the best in 2013 and deserves the award but base on the trophies won in 2013,  which the major  aim in football, Mikel merits it.

If there is any time to break the Ivorian jinx its definitely now, while its wont be a suprise if any of them wins, it will definitely be an award merited for hard work and determination for John Obi Mikel in 2013, as players, fans and pundits alike are tipping him  to scoop this year award.
