ARSENAL: WRITTEN OFF WHILE FLYING HIGH.

There is hardly a pundit, journalist, rival fan and managers alike that feels Arsenal can win this season premier league, reason amongst other is that -judging from the last 7years- they've never been a consistent team especially at the tail end of the season.

Clearly, the season is about 14 matches to go and many
expect the usual slip from the gunner to start soon. But ---interesting or suprisingly to many, amidst all the doubts, the criticisms, the caricatures, the Gunner have been proving many doubters wrong with some tenacious display missed with resilience - as seen in the away game against Aston Villa and most recently Southampton - which had been missing for years.

"Their form has been stunning: in fact it is incredibly similar in terms of numbers to the Invincibles’ season and even Season 2007/8 before things came controversially
undone against Birmingham City" according to John Dyke

Yet as we headed into last weekend I could not find a single pundit prepared to tip the Gunners for the title. The most ringing endorsement of Arsenal in fact came from the highly-impressive Roberto Martinez during his stint in the studios on Monday night for the billionaires match up between Mancity and Chelsea.

“The most outstanding team this season is Arsenal,”
he said. “They have been the most consistent and
kept to their principles.” Roberto Martinez.

Roberto also sensed a Chelsea win coming on
Monday and he dissected their tactical approach
brilliantly.

I tend to wonder why is there still uncertainty over a team which is top with just 14 games left in the season? A team which has won 17 of its 24 games, is joint top of the form table, is joint top of the away results table, which has not conceded a goal in its last four matches at home and which has scored the first goal in 18 games this season, winning 16 of them.

Well firstly it’s a question of recent history. As
Arsene Wenger himself noted when asked why the
Gunners weren’t being taken seriously, we all seem
to doubt Arsenal’s ability to get the job done when
the heat is on.

“In the last seven years you have ingrained that in
your brain and it’s very difficult to get it out now,”
observed Le Professeur.

Arsenal may not have the best strike partnership in the league and theo walcott's injury only makes that stat worse against the Gunners, but the general teams spirit and self believe are really spurring them towards their first trophy in 8years. with players like Santi Cazorla, Mesuit Ozil, Jack Wilshere, Laurent Koscieny, Wojieck Sczsney all playing integral parts both individually and collectively to win game games for the Gunners, it will only be safe to regartd them as a seriously contender for the EPL as any thing other than that will be at your expense.

Arsenal face a though challenge in re-writing their history as they been as " team who could not beat the big boys" especially as the visit of Man united and mancity looms with another London derbie both away to totteham and chelsea.  To quote Wenger again, he said people were claiming his team cannot beat sides like the City goal machine, “but I say yes and that is what we have to show.”

These match up might end up being the tittle decider, so the gunner truely have alot to prove, but tha doesn't the other teams has nothing at all to worry as the gunners hungry gunners knows whats at stake here!
