Its Boxing day, a remarkable one in the English Premier League where some heavy weights exchanged punches in fierce battles.
There were Victories for both Manchester clubs, Chelsea, southampton, Newcastle, Arsenal, crystal palace, sunderland, Fulham while today recorded one draw at white Hartlane between Tottenham hotspurs and Westbromwich Albion.
It all started at the KC stadium where the ''king of come backs'' did it again this time from 2 - nil down. The victory was inspired by Wayne Rooney, who scored his 150th United League goal. He also had an assist for Chris Smalling to kick start the come back before smashing a sumptuous Volley to restore parity for United. An own goal by James Chester under pressure from Rooney ensure that the come back was done and dusted consequently moving united up to 7th position above Tottenham - who only draw at home to westbrom - on goals difference.
At the Stamford Bridge, Jose Mourinho's men were made to work hard for their victory againt Swansea. Edin Harzard's 29th strike was all the Blues needed to move up to 3rd position behind Arsenal and Manchester city after a barren draw at the Emirate against the Gunners on monday.
Else where at Boleyn Ground, Arsenal had Walcot to thank for his Double against Westham united, the first being an equalizer after carlton Cole had given the Hammers a 46th minute lead. The introduction of Podolski -after an injury to Aaron Ramsey- sparked life into the Gunners after a series of wasted chances particularly by Olivier Giroud, walcott was on hand to give Arsenal the lead with a podolski assist. Podolski rocketed a third from Giroud's lay off -his only noticeable effort throughout- what a way to come back from injury. The result moves Arsenal back to 1st position with 39 points.
At the Etihad, Manchester city knew a victory against an in-form Luis Suarez's Liverpool would sky-rocket them to 2nd postion and that they got, but its was by no means an easy task. Liverpool took a deserved lead through Phillipe Coutinho after a swift build up. The goal came after the referee Lee Mason, instigated his assistant, had incorrectly ruled out Raheem Sterlins goal for an offside. At this time Liverpool were in top gear until they were pegged back by Vicente Kompany's headed goal from a corner. But the result was sealed at the nick of halftime, when Alvaro Negredo scored from a beautiful counter-attack. Mignolet should have done better to prevent that. The second half saw many chances created but no more goals were registered and Man city saw the game off for their 9th home victorty.
